ANGUS ENERGY WSCC/071/19

February 2020 – Angus Energy’s planning permission to flow test for 7 days expired in March 2019. So, in November 2019 Angus applied for new permission (WSCC/071/19) – this time to flow test for 3 years. Balcombe Parish Council and the Environment Agency have objected to this application. The Environment Agency in their Objection requested a Hydrological Risk Assessment and more information on protection for ground water.

In response Angus produced additional documentation in January 2020 including a Hydrological Risk Assessment and an Engineering Design Philosophy. The West Sussex Planning Officer is now awaiting the Environment Agency’s response to the additional documentation before making his recommendation to West Sussex Planning Committee.

Balcombe Parish Council reviewed this additional documentation and sent in a second Objection voicing concerns. This Objection can be found below:

In October 2019 Angus Energy put in an application to flow test the well at Lower Stumble  (WSCC/071/19). They applied to pump out previously used drilling fluids to ascertain any oil flow (up to 4 weeks) and should oil be seen to flow, to conduct an extended well test over a period of 3 years.
