The Mid Sussex District Plan has now been accepted which has allocated 79 houses for Balcombe instead of the 42 dwellings envisaged in our Neighbourhood Plan. Mid Sussex District Council put a call out to landowners for possible sites and have now published their Strategic Housing and Economic Land Availability Assessment 2018 (SHELAA), which comprises a list of all the sites which have been nominated. These will not necessarily all go forward, but these are the sites which they are now assessing for their development potential. We reiterate that inclusion of these sites in the SHELAA does not confer any planning status on them, and they are yet to be subject to MSDC’s site selection assessment process and sustainability assessment. Balcombe Parish Council will be making representation on site suitability and will be engaging again with the village to canvas opinion.
